A Cartography of an Artist’s Evolution, The Resolute is purposeful in expression, visually soulful and rich in thought, are some of the qualities of the paintings from The Resolute series which showcases works of artist Sushma Sabnis.

It depicts, in abstract imagery, the workings of an artist’s mind. It is called ‘Resolute’ because it shows the determined journey of a creator who is self-taught, learning, either as a mere observer or by interacting with the environment and experimenting with unknown elements.

This journey has been captured in a series of works that the artist has been painting and exploring for a while now, quite similar to a seafarer embarking on a voyage to find new lands.

The large setbacks and the small victories, both unflinchingly displayed, creating a history of the work itself.

The internal wars and peace made while painting, the colours of music influencing a painting, all of it bring together a very eclectic and human experience for the viewer.

The Resolute captures moments of struggle and utter chaos, and at times moments of sheer serenity and tranquil. It also explores the artist’s satirical sense of humour and her constant search for inspiration.

The Resolute is being inaugurated by Mr. Parvez Damania at 6:00PM on the 15th of March.
